Present Continuous Tense

Forms (တည္ေဆာက္ပံုမ်ား)

1. Around Now;

Ø  Present continuous (progressive) tense ကို ယခု ေျပာေနတဲ႔ အခ်ိန္ပတ္လည္မွာ ျဖစ္ပ်က္ေနတဲ႔ အေၾကာင္းအရာေတြ၊ အေျခအေနေတြကို ေဖာ္ျပရာမွာ သံုုးတယ္။

                                 

Hurry up! We're all waiting for you! (NOT We all waiting..)

I am going a lot of trips these days.

2. Changes;

Ø  ေျပာေနတဲ႔ အခ်ိန္ပတ္လည္မွာ တိုးတက္ ေျပာင္းလဲလာတဲ႔ အေျခအေနေတြကို ေဖာ္ျပရာမွာလည္း         Present continuous (progressive) tense ကို သံုးရတယ္။

The population of the world is rising very fast. (NOT rises...)

The weather is getting warmer.

Is your English getting better?  

You're working hard today. (NOT You work hard today...)

         

3. တစ္စံုတစ္ရာကို အခုေျပာေနတဲ႔ အေတာအတြင္းမွာ လုပ္ေဆာင္ေနတယ္။ (စေတာ႔လုပ္ေနၿပီ၊ မၿပီးေသး)

Where's Thi Thi?  She's having a bath. (NOT She has a bath)

Please don't make so much noise. I'm working. (NOT I work)

Ø  တစ္စံုတစ္ရာကို လုပ္ေဆာင္ေနတယ္။ (စေတာ႔လုပ္ေနၿပီ၊ မၿပီးေသးဘူး)ဆိုတဲ႔ ျဖစ္ရပ္မွာ ေျပာေနတဲ႔ အခ်ိန္မွာ ထိုအရာကို အခုလက္ရိွ လုပ္ေနျခင္း၊ လုပ္မေနျခင္းဟာ အေရးမႀကီးဘူး။ ထိုကိစၥ လုပ္ေနဆဲ၊ မၿပီးေသးဘူး ဆိုရင္ Present continuous (progressive) tense ကို သံုးရတယ္။

နဲနဲ ႐ႈပ္သြားလား။ ေအာက္က ဥပမာ စာေၾကာင္းေတြကို ေလ့လာၾကည့္ပါ။ ရွင္းသြားမွာပါ။

တြမ္ နဲ႔ အန္ ဟာ ေကာ္ဖီဆိုင္မွာ စကားေျပာေနၾကတယ္။

တြမ္ေျပာလိုက္တာက

I'm reading an interesting book  at the moment. I'll  lend it to you when I've  finished it.

တြမ္ဟာ အခုေျပာေနတဲ႔ အခ်ိန္မွာေတာ႔ စာအုပ္ကို ဖတ္မေနဘူး။ သူဆိုလိုတာက သူ စေတာ႔ဖတ္ေနၿပီ၊ မၿပီးေသးဘူးေပါ႔။ (in the middle of reading ေပါ႔ )

ေနာက္ထပ္ ဥပမာေလး တစ္ခုေလာက္ ေလ့လာၾကည့္ပါအံုး။

Bo Bo want to work in England, so he is learning English.

အခုေျပာေနတဲ႔ အခ်ိန္မွာေတာ႔ ဘိုဘုိဟာ အဂၤလိပ္စာသင္ေနတာေတာ႔ ျဖစ္ခ်င္မွ ျဖစ္ေပလိမ္႔မယ္။

4. Future meaning;

Ø  အနာဂတ္ကာလအတြက္ ႀကိဳတင္စီစဥ္ထားေသာ ျပဳမူေဆာင္ရြက္မႈတို႔ကို ေဖာ္ျပခ်င္တဲ႔အခါ Present continuous (progressive) form ကို သံုးတယ္။

What are you doing this evening? (Future tense; Continuous form)

We're going to Yangon next summer.

I am having dinner with Pearl on Sunday.

Ø  အနာဂတ္ကာလအတြက္ ႀကိဳတင္အစီအစဥ္ေတြ၊ ေသခ်ာေပါက္ ျဖစ္ပ်က္ေတာ႔မဲ႔ အေၾကာင္းအရာေတြကို ေဖာ္ျပဖို႔ရာ going to +infinitive ကို သံုးတယ္။ (အေသးစိတ္ကို Future Tense က်မွ ထပ္ရွင္းပါမည္။)

She is going to have a baby. (ကိုယ္ဝန္ေဆာင္ အမ်ိဳးသမီးကို ၾကည့္၍)

It is going to rain. (မၾကာမီ႐ြာေတာ့မည့္ မိုးတိမ္ေတာင္တို႔ကို ၾကည့္၍)
